Tech Art Festival Highlights Female-Identifying Artists in Male-Dominated Spaces

FEMMEBIT is a new media Art Festival with an impressive all-female roster that showcases innovative works by Los Angeles-based artists. In addition to their bold and immersive programs, the triennial festival also hosts in-depth panel discussions that challenge current ideas in both the Tech Industry and in the Fine Arts.

While both industries are notoriously male-dominated, the image and sound that is inherently “female” can be seen in endless pieces of art and areas of tech as “the subject”, or “muse”. FEMMEBIT aims to flip the script, and instead boast a roster of women that are paving the way in a mesh of these two seemingly abysmal industries for women.

In addition, the 2019 festival’s panel discussions will cover the use of gaming mechanics within art and media. The panel will highlight female artists who are excelling in it, despite the Gaming Industry being yet another disproportionately male arena.

FEMMEBIT is proving to us (for the third year in a row) that women will pioneer and dominate the innovative and inevitable intertwining of art and tech.

FEMMEBIT takes place from Friday, May 31st to Sunday, June 2nd in Los Angeles, California. More information can be found on their website.
